membership

To join APSA, please download and complete a Membership Application Form and return to the Membership Secretariat via post or email.

APSA membership is open to individuals with an interest in the pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacy practice and pharmacy education. Applicants can join as either full or student members. The membership fees are based on the calendar year and renewal notices will be sent to all current members at the beginning of each year. Financial members are considered those who have paid all membership fees up to and including the current calendar year; reinstatement of member status requires payment of accrued subscription arrears.

Any member who wishes to resign, may do so in writing to the Membership Secretariat. Members who are non-financial for two consecutive years will be notified as to their membership status; failure to respond within three months will result in loss of membership status.

Applicants may join APSA as either full or student members; student members must provide evidence of current student status, such as a copy of a valid student card, at the time of application or renewal. For members residing in Australia, membership fees are subject to GST.

APSA members who have reached the age of 65 years, or have retired from their full-time position, and who have contributed to the Association may be nominated to be elected as Life Members. Life members shall be entitled to the privileges of membership of the Association; however, they will not be called upon to pay annual subscriptions. Life members shall also be entitled to receive free registration to APSA scientific meetings. Life members will be elected and recognised at the Annual General Meeting.

Membership benefits include:

Annual Conference Member Rates

The Association hosts an annual conference that provides a forum for presentation of research and development applications from all branches of pharmaceutical science, pharmacy practice and pharmacy education. The program features prominent Australasian and international presenters, with excellent opportunities for networking through both scientific and social events. Reduced conference rates are provided for delegates who are financial members of APSA prior to conference registration.

Prizes and Awards

APSA recognises excellence by providing several competitive awards for members at varying stages of their scientific careers. The APSA medal is our associationís highest award to recognize excellence and lasting contribution to the pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacy practice and/or pharmacy education. In addition, several student prizes are awarded at the Annual Conference in recognition of excellence amongst honours and higher degree student members. In order to be eligible for an APSA award, nominees must be financial members prior to the conference abstract submission deadline.

Student Travel Grants

In recognition of the valuable contribution of our student members, APSA provides travel grants to support student attendance at the Annual Conference. To be eligible for a travel grant, students must be financial members prior to the conference abstract submission deadline and must be presenting an abstract at the Annual Conference.
